Nanaimo Dog Recipe: A Sweet Twist on a Classic Treat

This Nanaimo Dog Recipe is super easy to make! It was inspired by a recent trip to Vancouver Island, where we tried Wolf’s Brewing Nanaimo Dog. It makes for a very fun and easy dessert, and is the perfect end to a Vancouver Island Dinner Party!

Now, you have two options: make everything from scratch or buy it all packaged.

Personally, I would go with the second option, but if you are so inclined, here is our favourite Claire Saffitz recipe for hot dog buns:

Ingredients

  • Package of Nanaimo Bars (6)
  • Hot Dog Buns
  • Additional toppings: chocolate sauce and ice cream

Steps

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Slice the Nanaimo Bars in half and place two pieces inside a hot dog bun, arranging them end to end.

Arrange the filled buns on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes, or until partially melted.

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Top with chocolate sauce and a scoop of ice cream before serving.
